CrossFire is probably unlike any program you have used before. It is cross-platform which means that it runs on Macintosh, Unix, Linux, and Windows computers. This ability makes it a little more unusual to install and run. This page attempts to assist in the installation of CrossFire.
The Windows version of Tcl/Tk is currently distributed by ActiveState as ActiveTcl. Click on "Download", then "Next" (I never fill out the form), then the Windows "AS Package". This is a pretty large download at 12.1 meg. Install ActiveTcl.
The Mac OSX version of TCL/TK is available here. Choose your OS version (10.2 or 10.3) and download the TclTkAquaBI installer. (Note: its a large 32MB download.)
Linux / Unix
Wish is part of the standard installation. However, if you want to update, check out the ActiveState link above under the Windows instructions.
If you do not already have a method to unzip this, check out WinZip.
Download this small CrossFire Launcher. For it to work, the CrossFire folder has to be in your Applications folder. Double-click the CrossFire Launcher to start CrossFire.
If you do not already have a method to unstuff this, check out StuffIt Expander.
Linux / Unix
You may need to do a chmod +x CrossFire.tcl. After that, simply execute CrossFire.tcl.
We do not distribute card scans for legal reasons. But CrossFire is capable of showing card scans. Some people have scanned the cards so they will work with Crossfire. Download the cards from those sites (listed below) and install them into the Crossfire/Graphics/Cards folder.
Most cards are available on Beave's Spellfire page.
4th edition cards are available on Todd's Spellfire page.
Someone has made one large (64MB) ZIP file (containing all the cards in the correct folders) available online HERE.
